Shameless Plug + Yay, Jeans!

So I made bacon sushi. It was awesome enough that I feel this strange urge to cross-post the blog I wrote about it pretty much everyplace I can. There are pictures and details located here!

Also, thank you to whoever advised me try the Old Navy “Sweetheart” jeans. They fit and are really comfortable, despite how ridiculous their name is!

Here’s some handy sexual assault prevention tips

1. Don’t put drugs in people’s drinks in order to control their behavior.

2. When you see someone walking by themselves, leave them alone!

3. If you pull over to help someone with car problems, remember not to assault them!

4. NEVER open an unlocked door or window uninvited.

5. If you are in an elevator and someone else gets in, DON’T ASSAULT THEM!

6. Remember, people go to laundry to do their laundry, do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.

7. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! If you are not able to stop yourself from assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while you are in public.

8. Always be honest with people! Don’t pretend to be a caring friend in order to gain the trust of someone you want to assault. Consider telling them you plan to assault them. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the other person may take that as a sign that you do not plan to rape them.

9. Don’t forget: you can’t have sex with someone unless they are awake!

10. Carry a whistle! If you are worried you might assault someone “on accident” you can hand it to the person you are with, so they can blow it if you do.

More updates on the following weekend

I am posting this link because I am ridiculous like that.

It’s been cheap/free furniture time lately! We’ve got two desks: paid $20 for one, it’s decent but definitely used. We got a second desk completely free off of Craigslist, it’s a corner desk that all we had to do was disassemble and remove from the couple’s house, it’s nicer then any desk I’ve ever owned! Getting a microwave from someone today for $10. The larger furniture will have to wait until we have a moving truck. Speaking of moving trucks, we’re getting a truck from Budget truck rental for 25% off the regular price: apparently this isn’t exactly a big time of year for people to be moving. Anyhow, due to the distance we’ll be driving it, they require us to have it for a week (and we’re planning on doing the drive from Richmond to Denver in 3 days), so we’ll hold onto it for the extra days and use it to pick up a couch and such from other unsuspecting Craigslist people. Yup.

And if none of the above makes sense, here’s the dirty details: Drew and I are coming back to Richmond the 25th and leaving Monday the 28th with all of our stuff in a truck to go to the apartment in Denver (Arvada, technically) that we will have as of this Monday. Super driving party! And we get to fly on a plane on the 25th as well. I love flying on planes. Too bad it causes me to not hear properly out of my ears for several days afterwards. D’oh!

Quick and exciting game!

If you have 5 minutes to spare, you should totally go play this rather exciting game where you run and jump a bunch!

(or http://www.adamatomic.com/canabalt/mega/ if you have a widescreen monitor, for bonus excitement!)

Link Party!

Here’s a quick puzzle game that is super neat. Requires download to make it fancy. Highly recommended!

Also, here’s a great sand art animation video from “Ukraine’s Got Talent”, about WWII. Really well done, I highly recommend watching it if you have 8.5 minutes to spare!

Highly interesting links for your perusal

First off, here is a rather disturbing version of Tetris (click the on red bar that begins with “Jogar”). I cleared a few lines, then could not take it anymore, and let all the blocks pile up to the top.

Now here’s an article for your “being entertained by stupid people” quotient for the day”:
Reasonable Consumer Would Know “Crunchberries” Are Not Real, Judge Rules

Blathering!

So you know what’s really stupid? Pine Sol. Have you ever read the back of the bottle? It is not recommended for wood floors. In fact, the things it recommends using the stuff for are tiles and ceramic type surfaces and whatnot. Why mention pine in the name when you can’t actually use it on wood? Which, uh, I’ve been doing up until I read the bottle today. This is because I am super bright. I will just console myself with the thought that it’s all just soap in different packaging.

By the way, if you want to waste hours of your life in a most entertaining way, this is the method I currently suggest.

I bought a new domain. Impulse buy, couldn’t help it. (http://www.ambulophilia.com, to be precise). I hate how there’s no centralized and easy to use means of finding hiking trails out there on the web, one that uses google maps and has all sorts of search options. There’s some good resources, but they tend to be more localized and not too searchable (i.e. park websites). Or there’s other resources that look like they’re superuseful but only have like 3 trails total for the state of VA. Anyhow, I’m just gonna make my own.

This is why you’re fat

This is a glorious website, in that “a few of these look really tasty and the rest make me feel completely nauseous!” kind of way.

For anyone who likes Star Wars

This is absolutely hilarious, and if you have 4 minutes to spare, you should totally go watch it right now:

Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn’t seen it)

Books, Games, and Babble

There’s a list floating about of the 1000 novels everyone must read, put forth by The Guardian. I scrolled through the entire thing and counted, I’ve apparently read about 58. Only 942 to go!

So this is fun for about 5 minutes: It’s a text adventure version of Guitar Hero!

I’ve started reading The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, which is good so far. I’ve read two of her other books, and enjoyed them. I’ve been looking for some good historical fiction and she has satiated my need.

I recently finished reading Female Chauvinist Pigs by Ariel Levy, which has helped me to understand why the heck there are all these straight women that want to go to strip clubs with ladies undressing, amongst other things. The research was more anecdotal and less statistically-based, but the observations the book makes are rather interesting.

Drew and I have been trying to get our Hike on lately, as there’s not much else to do when it’s this cold out. We hit Lake Anna State Park this past weekend, saw some people on horsies and got some free 7th Day Adventist book which was entertaining for about 5 minutes. Sparks and hiking go great together, I should mention. Next time I’m at Kroger, I’ll need to check and see if they’ve sold out of all the caffeinated Sparks by now, if not I might have to add a bit more to the ole stockpile.

Oh yeah, and I made chocolate chip cookies that are purple. Purple is a very appropriate color for cookies!
