I’m Charlotte Winthrop, a builder, designer, and lifelong tinkerer who spent over a decade working in residential construction before turning my focus to education. After helping dozens of homeowners navigate confusing processes and avoid costly mistakes, I realized how much valuable knowledge was locked away in trade journals and job sites — out of reach for the average person. So I started Ptocheia to bring that knowledge into the open, in plain language, with real-world examples.

This site was born from frustration — not just mine, but from the countless homeowners I met who felt overwhelmed by conflicting advice, inflated contractor quotes, and outdated guides. I wanted to create a space where you could find honest, tested advice without the fluff or sales pitches.
